“The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.
“Can you hunt the prey for the lion, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.
O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth; Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD.
The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God.
Its roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions; It growls as it seizes the prey And carries it off with no one to deliver it.
“The young lions have roared at him, They have roared loudly. And they have made his land a waste; His cities have been destroyed, without inhabitant.
“They will roar together like young lions, They will growl like lions’ cubs.
and say, ‘What was your mother? A lioness among lions! She lay down among young lions, She reared her cubs.
Where is the den of the lions And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion, lioness and lion’s cub prowled, With nothing to disturb them?
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of hosts. “I will burn up her chariots in smoke, a sword will devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard.”
There is a sound of the shepherds’ wail, For their glory is ruined; There is a sound of the young lions’ roar, For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.
