“Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; Against them He will thunder in the heavens, The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; And He will give strength to His king, And will exalt the horn of His anointed.”
For I have told him that I am about to judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons brought a curse on themselves and he did not rebuke them.
When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell off the seat backward beside the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for he was old and heavy. Thus he judged Israel forty years.

“For though I were right, I could not answer; I would have to implore the mercy of my judge.
“The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?
“He makes counselors walk barefoot And makes fools of judges.
“Can anyone teach God knowledge, In that He judges those on high?
“You say, ‘What does God know? Can He judge through the thick darkness?
“There the upright would reason with Him; And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.
“For that would be a lustful crime; Moreover, it would be an iniquity punishable by judges.
“For by these He judges peoples; He gives food in abundance.
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
The LORD judges the peoples; Vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
God is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day.
For You have maintained my just cause; You have sat on the throne judging righteously.
And He will judge the world in righteousness; He will execute judgment for the peoples with equity.
Arise, O LORD, do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged before You.
